January 27th, Chinese Man comes to Electric Brixton for a Chinese Man Records Party – featuring special guests Youthstar, A.S.M., Baja Frequencia and Mophono. The night, organised by Live Nation & Academy Events in association with Diplomats of Sound, will be an exciting review of the current artists under the Chinese Man Records label.
Comprised of members High Ku, Sly and Zé Mateo, Chinese Man was formed in 2004 and have continued to go from strength to strength ever since, especially with the widespread acclaim received for their ‘Racing with the Sun’ album (and the remix album which followed). The trip-hop collective based in France are known for their skills in finding and using unique and catchy samples to create tracks that are influenced by hip-hop, jazz, reggae and dub.
The night will see them perform tracks from latest release Shikantaza, and will feature appearances from MCs from the album such as Youthstar and A.S.M., as well as electro-cumbia duo Baja Frequencia, and experimental electronic artist Mophono.
