London Gig Guide (May 2019)

LondonGigGuideMay cover

Removing the edges and scouting for more freedom. Between The Lines is a new series of live music nights exploring the musical space between genre boundaries. The first two shows will take place on 16th and 17th May at Corsica Studios and will feature influences from artists that play a range of world music such as West African Wassalou music to Irish poetry.

The first night will see three sets of musicians play: Sarathy x Danalogue, Fehdah and Pouya Ehsaei x Yelfris Valdes. Collectively they will bring a mix of electronics, tabla, Afrofuturism, Wassoulou, and Cuban trumpet.

All players have been brought together by their mutual love of experimentation and playfulness and it’s hard to predict what route they’ll take on their way to finding that connection. However what could be more fun than taking away the rules and indulging in a one-night affair with whatever is created on the night.
