Can a Dutch band sound quintessentially and vintage Turkish? Join Altin Gün on 8th May at Jazz Café, and you will board a direct time machine to Istanbul in the early 70s, when the so-called Anadolu Rock and Psych were intoxicating Turkish music listeners.
The Amsterdam-based band is indeed able to recreate those atmospheres, thanks to their absolute devotion to some of the protagonists of that period, like Baris Manco, Selda and Erkin Koray, and a passionate work of rediscovery of the Turkish folk repertoire.
What’s more, there’s arguably no better way to be introduced to their fresh-from-the-oven second album, Gece, than by attending their upcoming show. For the occasion, Altin Gün are going to be supported by Australian psych-pop band Nice Biscuit and Turkish music lover DJ Ece Duzgit.
