Fumaça Preta is a band extensively and exhaustively able to defy all sorts of stereotypes and preconceptions. For this reason, we couldn’t recommend enough that you attend their next London gig at London Fields Brewhouse for Baba Yaga’s Hut on the 19th of January.
The Brazilian, Venezuelan, Dutch and British project is an undefinable, distorted and psychedelic musical perspective over reality, by which you’ll be overwhelmed. The sound of the four musicians is razor-sharp and mild, strident and soft at the same time. It blends together noise with Tropicalia, samba with Voodoo to produce unnatural and irrational vibes worthy of their album’s title Impuros Fanaticos (impure fanatics).
No matter how much you try to prepare yourself and listen to Fumaça Preta’s tunes, you’ll inevitably and repeatedly raise your eyebrows, shocked and blown away by one of the most original and unpredictable sounds around.
