More than simply a gig, what will take place on stage at the Barbican Centre on Thursday 5th October will be a good and proper gala; a party in honour of a band (and its latest album) perfectly embodying the musical soul of London, bringing together styles, traditions and cultures, and enhancing them with its own brassy character.
A few months ago, Hackney Colliery Band released Collaborations Vol.1, an album celebrating collaborations in music and gathering together some remarkable names of the pop, jazz, and world music scenes, like Mulatu Astatke, Angelique Kidjo, Bugge Wesseltoft, James Taylor and many more.
And in a few days’ time, some of those names are going to be at the Barbican next to HCB to give you the chance to experience quite a unique night.
