Preview: Hailu Mergia & Krar Collective @ The Jazz Cafe (London; Monday 12th November 2018, London)

hailu mergia + krar

The beginning of this year witnessed the much-awaited re-launch of Ethio-jazz father Hailu Mergia in the contemporary world jazz scenario.

With the Awesome Tapes from Africa release Lala Belu, master keyboardist and accordionist Mergia conquered the stages of the most attended jazz festivals in Europe and USA during last summer and early autumn. He’s now bringing the album’s brilliant grooves and most recent elaborations of soulful Ethio-jazz to London’s leading quarters of the international music scene at the Jazz Cafè on Monday 12th November.

Krar Collective opens the evening’s doors of Ethiopian hypnotic rhythms grooving on through original soul roots, led by Mulatu Astatke’s pupil Temesegen Zeleke on the krar.

This combination of the acts is bound to resolute a substantial experience of Ethio-jazz undergoing timeless growth in our capital.
