When attending MovimientosLove Carnival’s shows, there’s always more than just the dancy and intoxicating music played by the Movimientos crew and special guest DJs from all over the world. There’s the cultural experience. You’ll be organically “initiated” or further exposed to offbeat traditions, styles and sounds.
That’s what will happen on 6th July at Five Miles, the new Love Carnival’s residency, when, throughout the night, the Tottenham venue’s sound system will be overflowing with the Afro-Cuban vibes played by DJ Jigüe. The artist from Santiago de Cuba embodies a new way in presenting Cuban music. He started in the rich hip-hop scene of the Caribbean island, and then moved into more experimental territories, shaping a new style that can be called “tropical Afro-futurism”.
Next to the Afro-Caribbean rhythms played by Jigüe, there will also be plenty of Afro-Latin ones to dance to. The Cuban musician will indeed be supported by Colombian DJ Galletas Calientes from the namesake label, and Diva.
