The last Bank Holiday of the year will be in glory of smooth vibes and upbeat rhythms. On Clapham Common, the influential British ska and 2 tone ensemble Madness will curate the 2016 edition of House of Common Festival and it will inevitably be a day in the band’s own image.
The event, which will be closed by a performance of the Camden born and bred ensemble, will host some of the funkiest, finest and most significant names of the uptempo scene. Bands like Jamaican legends Toots & The Maytals and New Orlean’s iconic Hot 8 Brass Band will share the stage with one-man shows like Lee “Scratch” Perry, Congo Natty and Ms Dynamite. Following this will be a triumph of DJs and selectors from seminal figures such as David Rodigan, Norman Jay, Craig Charles and Rob Da Bank, to more recent projects like the new incarnation of Mike Skinner (Tonga), Kiko Bun and Reggae Roast.
You’d better to start to move your feet and, as Madness anticipated, “see you in Clapham Madheads… For the love of the common people.”
