We naturally and inevitably grow fond of strong and intriguing musicians, even more, when they love to smile and play rhythmic and shiny music.
That’s why we have a thing for Mélissa Laveaux and her Creole sound, rooted in Haitian culture but currently residing in Canada with her wide-ranging and sharp perspective over the world and its affairs.
Mélissa’s third album Radyo Siwèl, released just a few days ago by the NØ FØRMAT! record label is shaped in the singer’s image. It’s lively, thought-provoking and charming at the same time, gathering together the Afro-Caribbean Vodou tradition of her tormented island with tasteful electro-pop and imaginative songwriting.
Mélissa will display her new release for UK fans on the 13th of April on the Rich Mix stage. She doesn’t play too often in London, so seize the chance and head for Shoreditch to enjoy an uplifting singer and provocative songwriter.
