In 2016, Nerija, an all-female group of young London based jazz musicians released a self-titled EP. After three years of sporadic gigs, solo projects (more to be mentioned on these later) and some refining, Nerija are hosting a night celebrating a rerelease of their original EP by Domino Records. But this time, including a vinyl release for the collectors out there.
Nerija include members that have gone on to headline big festivals and sell out solo records, NubyaGarcia, RosieTurton, SheilaMaurice-Grey, CassieKinoshi, LizzieExell, RioKai and jazz award winner ShirleyTetteh. Between them, they are part of loads of different projects across the London jazz scene.
It promises to be a special night, a show combining some of the best female artists making music in London, as well as a herd of hungry fans that have been desperate for a vinyl release of this EP. Nerija came to prominence just as the London jazz scene was taking off, and therefore missed the wave of vinyl prints and big promo events, so it is great to see that this is being corrected. On Friday the 26th of March, be ready for dancing, Nubya’s sax solos and a lots of fun.
