The 7th Anniversary of the cultural organisation will be a full-day celebration of what they do best: organise events and let artists perform. From noon to midnight, the Rich Mix crowd will enjoy music played by performers coming from all over Africa. Among them Zimbabwean afrorock Anna Mudeka Band, Burkinabè kora virtuoso Moussa Coulibaly, soulful singer/songwriter Mudibu from Burundi and traditional Guinean percussionists and dancers Wuntanara.
But that’s not all, because there will also be storytelling recited by Tanzanian Saidi Kanda, drumming workshop, dance classes taught by Artviva Mozambique, a colourful African Market and Open the Gate DJs.
The 12-hour party won’t simply be a way to celebrate Open the Gate and the remarkable work they’re doing for the London music scene, but it’ll be an African culture feast day and what’s more, it’ll be entirely for free!
