If you were to introduce someone to the highlights of African music, your best bet would be to begin with Orchestra Baobab. Fusing African and Cuban jazz with strong elements of Congolese rhumba, Orchestra Baobab quickly rose to fame in the 70s and continued the spell-binding grip on their fans, even to the present day.
After a string of sold-out shows (including the Barbican last April), Orchestra Baobab will be coming back to London to showcase their latest live sound. As a special ‘cherry on the musical cake’, they will be sharing the stage with London’s prized psychedelic jazz collective, Heliocentrics, as well as a solo set from The Noisettes‘ singer, Shingai.
So, on 27th September, it is time to grab a friend, take them to Roundhouse and celebrate a new-found world of music.
