Preview: Yelfris Valdés @ Jazz Café (London; Thursday 10th October 2019)

Yelfris Valdes albumlaunch

The fluidity of heart pours from Yelfris Valdés when he plays trumpet. Valdés can drench you in feelings through the highs and lows of his solos. He moved from Cuba to London five years ago and became integrated into the local jazz and Latin scene seamlessly. Having performed with such a variety of loved artists, such as Buena Vista Social Club, Kano MC and Dele Sosimi, he is now launching his second personal project. On 4th October, he will be performing For The Ones… at London’s Jazz Café.

Valdés has always enjoyed mixing electronic effects with live improvisation, and his latest offering sees him delving deeper into this space. This may not be easy listening for either jazz lovers or Cuban music fans, but it will likely be a playful experiment for those who like to ride the artistic trail of a talented and worldly musician.

The gig date also marks the celebration of Cuban independence, which is bound to add to the celebratory atmosphere. Join the current of Valdés’ new project as he experiments with ideas that flow and transform in real-time.
