Daily Discovery: Ballaké Sissoko & Sona Jobarteh – Djourou (Official video)

Malian kora player and composer Ballaké Sissoko and Gambian multi-instrumentalist and composer Sona Jobarteh recently gave life to an inspiring collaboration resulting in their new single and video ‘Djourou‘.

“Ballaké sought out Sona for a collaboration with a specific wish to connect with the younger generation of kora players – to rejoin with their common forebears, weaving a thread across borders that were unknown to the griots back in the days when the Malian empire radiated over much of West Africa”.

The track is part of Ballaké Sissoko’s upcoming album out on NØ FØRMAT! in early April: https://idol.lnk.to/Djourou
