Welcome to International Times, a celebration of intercontinental sounds brought to you by godfathers of the global groove Transglobal Underground and DJ Jamie Renton.

Tonight, we present London Zulu, the project formerly fronted by the late, great South African singer and dancer Doreen Thobekile. Doreen's daughter (and long-time vocal sparring partner) Ingrid Webster is taking her place in the spotlight to perform the songs of her mother and more. Backed by members of Transglobal Underground, she'll be singing her heart out on a set of Township soul and London funk.

Also live tonight: In Transit, a new collaboration between Transglobal Underground and standout musicians representing the Gulf States such as UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Yemen and Saudi Arabia. As the Middle East enters a new era of self expression, the Gulf States have a story to tell and music offers a unique way of relaying their diverse experiences. Bringing together musicians from a mix of different musical and cultural backgrounds, this will be the first live UK performance from musicians involved with the project, prior to a full band appearance at the pre-Olympics "River ofMusic" event at Battersea Park two days later.  

On the decks, the Flying Chillis AKA Jamie Renton and Alex Stewart + special guest DJ Karim will be blasting out indestructible African beats, hip-shakin' Arabic grooves and other tropical roots sounds to spice up and nice up Dalston's progressive live music venue.
