Description

A spectacular end to our Saxophone day is assured with performances from two giants of contemporary saxophone composition. Karen Sharp will perform with her new quartet which features Nikki Iles, Steve Brown and Dave Green, and Marius Neset's quartet bring their powerful sound which has carried them from Scandinavia to jazz clubs and concert halls across Europe.

26 year old Norwegian saxophone sensation Marius Neset already has two critically acclaimed albums under his belt, including his latest release, Golden Xplosion. Recently described as 'the most talented Norwegian saxophonist since Jan Garbarek in the 1960s', Marius is joined by Django Bates, Jasper Høiby And Anton Eger.

Kicking off tonight's double bill, Karen Sharp, tenor sax specialist and winner of two British Jazz Awards, performs tracks from her album Spirit. Karen studied Composition at the RNCM and it was here that she developed her love of jazz and the tenor saxophone.
