Adriano Adewale & Umpatacum

The second of two sessions celebrating the diversity of Brazilian music, curated by Adriano Adewale.

Brazilian percussionist and composer Adriano Adewale is joined by Umpatacum, performing songs drawn from Afro-Brazilian musical traditions.

The songs are in styles including Coco, Jongo, Samba de roda and Baião, plus the well-known Samba.

The band features vocalists Alba Cabral and Rebeca Valim, bassist Matheus Nova, Luiz Morais on acoustic guitar and Alua Nascimento on percussion.

These sessions are inspired by Baila Brazil in Royal Festival Hall.
