Alvorada and friends host a 'roda de choro'. Choro is a rich and uplifting style of instrumental music from Brazil, which emerged in the late 19th century from a mixture of European harmony with African rhythm. A 'roda de choro' is the choro equivalent of a folk 'session', an informal gathering where people gather to play and listen to choro. All choro musicians and students are welcome to participate.
Alvorada are known as the UK's leading choro group. They explore choro influences from all over Brazil, and play a range of classics, contemporary tunes and their own original compositions. They have played extensively in London and the UK, and have just recorded their debut album, due for release in Spring 2019.
