Bomba Estéreo was born in Bogotá-Colombia in 2005,as an experimental project lead by visual artist and musician Simón Mejía who would invite MC Li Saumet to join him on the recording for his first album Vol. 1
This collaboration between the two, turned the project into a band that rapidly wrote and released their second album Estalla / Blow Upwhich was printed in 8 countriesand gave Bomba Estéreo international visibility, thanks to their hit single Fuego and taking them to perform all over the Americas, Asia and Europe.
In 2010 Bomba Estéreo was awarded as “Best New Band in The World”by MTV Iggy.
In 2012, they lauched their third album Elegancia Tropical, which took the band to a new stage including their first African tour, a nomination for “Best Alternative Album” in the Latin GRAMMYs and the award for “Best New Band of 2012” by iTunes Latino.
Bomba Estéreo released their fourth album Amanecer in 2015 under the label Sony Music US Latin,produced by Wallpaper’s Ricky Reed. The album has boosted Bomba’s worldwide prestige being reviewed by media all over the globe and being nominated for “Best Alternative Album” and “Record of the Year” for single Fiesta, which was recently remixed by actor and rapper Will Smith, with whom Bomba performed at the Latin GRAMMYs in November 2015
