Choro Alvorada

Alvorada Rhythm Passport

Alvorada are the UK’s premier exponents of Choro, a rich and uplifting style of instrumental music from Brazil. Choro emerged in the late 19th century as a mixture of European harmony with African rhythm, and can be considered the jazz of Brazil.

Alvorada explore influences from all over Brazil, playing choros with the irresistible swing of samba from the South and baião from the Northeast. As well as playing classics from the Choro genre, Alvorada play original works, revisiting the genre with influences from the UK. Alvorada have just finished recording their debut album, which will be released in Spring 2019.

Alvorada are:

Rachel Hayter - flute
Andrew Woolf - clarinet
Luiz Morais - 7 string guitar
Jeremy Shaverin - cavaquinho
Alua Nascimento - pandeiro
