A unique musical experience that spans both North and West Africa: Algerian Rai, Ghanaian High-life, Saharan Sufi, trance Gnawa and Burkinabe Mandingue seamlessly blend together for a night you won’t want to miss.

For the anticipated closing concert of Mawaef - Multimedia Arts Festival – Algeria Edition, we're showcasing Algeria’s exciting and emerging arts scene. Through cinema, theatre, music, workshops and discussions, we’re highlighting alternative narratives of Algerian identity by celebrating Algeria’s multi-faceted culture.

NAZIM ZIRYAB PROJECT
The night will open with UK-based Nazim Ziryab, and his 5-piece fusion Algerian-blues band. Founded in 2012, Ziryab has been described as a fruitful middleground of an Algerian Carlos Santana and Tinariwen as Chaabi and Rai meet pop and reggae.

EL FOUKR R'ASSEMBLY
An Algerian Transaharan Pan-African groove band formed on the roads through Algeria, Ghana and Burkina Faso before finally settling in Ivory Coast. The resulting sound is a voyageur musical manifesto heralding a new genre blending Algerian Rai, Saharan Sufi, Ghanaian High-Life, and Burkinabe Mandingue. El Foukr R'Assembly is now gearing up for its rattling UK premiere after having toured 3 continents.

The night will close with with a featured set by MOTH, spinning the hottest mix of North African tunes and hits, with excursions further afield.
