The London Jukebox presents..

Garance and the Mitochondries (alternative experimental post musette folk)

London’s French extrovert Garance Louis has pulled out all the stops with her second album Balance L’Aurore, working with Portico Quartet producer Sonny Johns on a musical odyssey that showcases everything good in London’s live music scene. Her second album sees Garance come of age as an arranger and producer alongside her distinctive songwriting style.

Growing up in the independent 'Cinémaginaire' in the South of France, Garance ’s childhood was filled with the sights and sounds of the movies - transporting her around the world without leaving Perpignan. The sense of adventure and creativity is plain to hear on every track, referencing a joyful array of experiences from the last 2 years. Having busked her way across the world, through New Orleans, Brazil, Portugal, and Italy, she documented these adventures in songs about absurd abstraction, procrastination, star-crossed open relationships; intoxicating love and subsequent break-ups, and rebirth in the Amazonian forest.

With the backing of her avid support which helped her crowdfund over £5000 towards the album, Garance drew together some of London’s finest instrumentalists to make this record. The album features horn section masterminded by jazz legend Ewan Bleach, string arrangements by Fred Thomas, heavy synths by Dave Maric, tremolo guitar and full rhythm section. Every track has a rich and distinct orchestration, making the album a celebration of musical daring.

The album launch is on the 3rd May 2018 at the Total Refreshment Centre with East London promoter Woodburner - Garance will create an immersive, one-off show involving 15 musicians from the new record which is bound to be full of color.
