“Absolutely crucial” – Craig Charles (BBC 6MUSIC)

The worlds greatest funk brass powerhouse return to the capitals iconic Roundhouse…

New Orleans’ inimitable Jazz, Funk & Hip Hop ambassadors return to the capital for their biggest show to date. Fresh off the back of a year of full-on touring, with appearances at some of the UK’s finest festivals including BST, The Secret Garden Party, WOMAD and Madness’ House of Common, the Grammy-nominated Hot 8 Brass Band are far from finished… In fact they’re just warming up.

Their 20+ years together have formed an aura of positivity that defies past setbacks and a sound that brims with relentless energy, leaving their unique stamp on every venue and each person that hears their roof-raising, rambunctious and incredibly rich music. With one foot firmly planted in the community and musical traditions of New Orleans and the other free to wander through myriad influences, The Hot 8 Brass Band are at once both endearingly familiar and strikingly original.

Since signing to Tru-Thoughts in 2007 their profile has steadily grown, from collaborations with the likes of Mos Def and Lauryn Hill to the celebratory Gold vinyl release of their take on Marvin Gaye’s classic Sexual Healing, and 2017 looks likely to take things to another level with the release of their new album ‘On The Spot’ and subsequent world tour.

So get on down to The Roundhouse for a night of Infectious, funky brass grooves and sweet, tight-knit harmonies guaranteed to leave you with a grin on your face and a spring in your step.
