In The Round: Oumou Sangaré

Widely regarded as one of the greatest living voices in African music, here Malian singer and songwriter Oumou Sangaré performs music from her new album Mogoya in an intimate seated show, part of our In the Round series.

Often referred to as the ‘The Songbird of Wassoulou’ (a southern wooded region of Mali which she considers her spiritual home), Sangaré is stylish, elegant, fiery and charismatic with a soulful, soaring voice – qualities that have seen her fast become an emblem for African womanhood and a striking role model. A tireless campaigner for women’s rights, Sangaré’s music is as fearless and powerful as her message – combining traditional instruments with western influences and sounds, drawing on a rich musical heritage while looking to the future.

Part of In the Round 2018 - the Roundhouse's series of intimate seated shows that put you closer to the music. Browse the full line-up for the series: http://rhou.se/2yxVj9r
