Juju! Ft: Djembe Thunder

Presenting the finest selection of true roots music from the heart of Africa, blending raw traditional music with genre-crossing fusion performances.

Djembe Thunder was founded in 2011 by Malian percussionist and composer Idris k Traore. They're a group of West African musicians who play authentic Malian Manding rhythms, from the ancient city-state of Kangaba (Mali), the birthplace of Sundiata Keita, the founder of the empire of Mali. All heavily experienced players, together they are raw, untamed and fiery, and the powerful electric charge of their performances justifies their name.

Previously they have toured with Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) in the Arab Emirates; supported Baaba Maal at WOMAD 2011; recorded with Peter Gabriel; and were selected to play at Buckingham Palace for Jools Holland and HRH the Prince of Wales. It’s fair to say that they're getting about!

As usual, Afro-Palace DJs led by Volta 45, will be on the decks throughout the night with an unbelievable selection of rare and well-loved vinyl from across Africa and all of its many musical corners.
