We continue with hip-hop vibes and conscious rhymes for our second appointment of the year with Global Sunday at Hootananny. After previously having the honour to host the sharp tongue and Middle Eastern-scented beats of El Far3i, we have the pleasure to welcome to the Brixton venue another brilliant “global hip-hop” MC, Khaled Siddiq.
Khaled, who’s a British artist of Jamaican, English and Irish descent, has become a worldwide sensation. Today he’s grown into one of the most recognised Muslim rappers, because of his determination in taking the perspective of minorities and the vulnerable, and questioning and defying pre- and misconceptions about faith.
His sound, inspired by his everyday life as well as music listening, ranges from Motown soul to electronica and funk to global beats. But it’s through his lyrics that Khaled fully expresses himself battling for social rights and justice.
On Sunday 23rd February, join us at Hootananny for a free entry show with a talented MC and sensible songwriter.
