La Vela Puerca is one of the most influential and popular bands of Latin America.
Their formation dates from 1995 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
They have and accelerated, colourful and combative style which stood out in a generation of artists that surged during the democratic restoration, after a dictatorship that had lasted for more than 10 years. Their flags substituted a certain oppressive air of ¨no future¨ for a critic but positive attitude.
With 23 years, 7 studio albums and 4 DVDs, the band has made tireless tours throughout Latin America, North America and Europe, establishing themselves as one of the most solid projects of Latin America.
Stadiums such as Atlanta, Ferrocarril Oeste, Obras or Luna Park in Buenos Aires, and Teatro de Verano and Velódromo Municipal in Montevideo are some of the stages were the band frequently sells out.
They have also worked with producers such as Oscar winner Gustavo Santaolla, Juan Campodónico, Claudio Taddei and Anibla Kerpel.
In their debut album, La Vela Puerca introduced themselves as a band that rested in a reggae, dreamed of insubordination and plugged into a ska.
Today, the band shines in their maturity with that same mutant and ferocious spirit, but being at the same time introspective and bohemian.
