Mega, Bryony Jarman-Pinto, and Joe Dolman | Dalston Curve Garden

Woodburner is proud to present our weekly festival, every Tuesday at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden through the summertime, with soulster Mega, jazz vocalist Bryony Jarmon-Pinto + singer songwriter Joe Dolman.

North London soulster Mega loved singing from a very early age, but was hindered for years by insecurity and vulnerability when she sang alone. Those around her knew it was where she thrived, and after joining a choir she grasped the passion she had within her and gained the confidence to step into the limelight. Within a month of finishing studies and beginning her musical journey, she was sidelined by devastating vocal problems, which made her realise how much she not only valued, but truly needed singing in her life, and at that moment she vowed that if her voice came back, she would only show her stripped-back, vulnerable self that she was once so afraid of.

Two years on, having recovered, Mega returns to throw her hat in the ring and demonstrate the talent she has waited so long to unleash. A powerful soul songstress who animates her listeners, Mega draws influence from singers such as Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, India Arie, and Whitney Houston, deeply inspired by the honesty they convey through their work, and she prays and hopes that when she sings she can bring others the intense joy that singing brings to herself.

Raised in Cumbria and now based in London, Bryony Jarman-Pinto is an expressive and adventurous singer-songwriter, combining harmonious vocals and mesmerising jazz-fused melodies with personal and complex lyrics.

Exploring a crossover of genres as she develops her style as an artist, Bryony Jarman-Pinto draws influence from the likes of Hiatus Koyote and Solange to Zara Macfarlane and Lianne La Havas. She finds herself increasingly merging elements of folk music with the jazz and world influences of her youth, for a sound that is truly her own.

After a couple of years of playing wherever & whenever he could in pubs, clubs and busking - the excitement Joe had been creating with his quickly growing fan-base caught the attention of BBC Introducing in Coventry & Warwickshire. This lead to Joe's first major festival appearance at BBC Radio 2's Festival In A Day at Hyde Park in 2014.

With a few independently released EP's under his belt, 2 of which landing him top 10 in the UK and US iTunes charts, Dolman has been growing from strength to strength with each show he plays, picking up Radio 1 plays from the likes of Huw Stephens, airplay on BBC Introducing and with his double sided single “Something Beautiful" play-listed by Apple Music and Spotify. This summer’s highlights included a headline show at All Saints Church in Leamington Spa which sold out 6 weeks in advance, where he recorded his recent Live EP - as well as festival appearances at Wilderness and BBC Music's Biggest Weekend.

Since our first season in 2013, our event at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden has always inspired audiences in a unique and thrilling way. This season of events captures the essence of a weekend rural festival in the centre of Dalston on a Tuesday evening.

The phenomenal surrounds of the garden combine with delicious pizzas from David Latto, and a supreme and ever-evolving roster of acts, to create a magical atmosphere which brings people together in a friendly and welcoming space.

It's a community of music-lovers, summer-lovers and life-lovers joined to celebrate the warm months in a carefree and supportive atmosphere, with a compelling live soundtrack.
