For once, we will move far away from our London comfort zone to explore the Sahara desert.
Our next live streaming session, organised in partnership with our friends at Hit The Road Music Studio (and streamed on both pages), will travel on a Trans-Saharan route to bring you sounds from Morocco and Niger.
Tomorrow, between 6PM and 10PM (BST), we will indeed have the honour to host on our Facebook page five acts and their sets, portraying different expressions of North African music.
We will hit the road on the Moroccan Atlantic coast, in Agadir introducing you to Abdelali Holmi, singer and guitar player of Zegro Band. Together with his group, Abdelali is connecting the dots between traditional and contemporary Moroccan music.
Then, we will start moving inland with Izouran N-Sahara and their Tuareg rock and blues.
Proceeding further on our music route, we will meet Kel-azawad and Farid Drif, member of Imadriwen. Both bands are based in South-Eastern Morocco near the “door to the desert” and their land is glaringly mirrored by their sound built on dilated guitar lines and cadenced rhythms.
We will end our journey in Niger with Anana Harouna, band leader, guitarist and voice of Kel Assouf. The Brussels-based musician is one of the most recognised interpreters of Tuareg music and we have no doubt that he’s going to mesmerise you with his solo set.
So, join us on Facebook on Wednesday evening and get a taste of the musical flavours of the Sahara desert.
