Sounds of the World presents Simo Lagnawi & Gnawa London + Gaia Mobilij @ Tramshed

Sounds of the World – Simo Lagnawi

Launched in September 2017, Sounds of the World music series has brought to Tramshed in Woolwich scents and notes from all over the world. So, we are thrilled to re-set the events in motion with a musician who has helped to bring and spread Gnawa, its imaginary and entrancing rhythms to London and the UK.

On Saturday the 21st of March, Simo Lagnawi, supported by Gnawa London and Gaia Mobilij will help us to relaunch Sounds of the World in style, letting you dance the night away and offering you an uplifting insight into the African tradition. Simo is indeed a good-and-proper Ambassador of Gnawa culture, he performed on stages like Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Latitude and BoomTown and his music has been featured (next to Rhythm Passport) on the CNN, BBC 3, BBC 6, Songlines and Vox Africa.

With a new album, titled Africa Soyo, just out the oven, there’s arguably no better time to discover one of the most inspired and inspirational interpreters and torchbearers of African Moroccan Gnawa music.

The event will be opened by Italian multi-instrumentalist Gaia Mobilij and her energetic and explosive cocktail of Gypsy music, Mediterranean vibes, Latin sounds from Mexico and Colombia and Hindustani classical music from India.
