Soundspecies is the alias of Producer/Musician/DJ brothers Henry and Oliver Keen, based in London. Soundspecies explore the territory between electronic dance music and traditional rhythmic percussion music, thrown together with a fascination for sonic experimentation with analogue synthesisers.

In May 2016, Soundspecies were invited to take part in Manana//Cuba, ‘the first ever electronic music festival in Cuba’. The recordings they made at EGREM studio in Santiago with local Bembe band Achi Meyi, with whom they collaborated at the festival, led to an album, released July 2017, received with critical acclaim. reviewed in The Wire magazine and made one of Gilles Peterson’s ‘top 20 tracks of 2017’.

They have now assembled an exciting band to further explore the afro-cuban electronica concept, featuring London-based Cuban musicians Rene Alvarez (trombone/vocal) Randy Lester (Percussion).
