Terakaft (live)

Celebrating a rich and diverse culture with their unhindered sound; Terakaft tell their powerful story sculpted by the rolling sands of the Sahara 29th April 2015 at the intimate arts space Rich Mix, the perfect setting setting for a story as passionate as this.

Comprised of two original members of Tinariwen, their sound is perhaps a more intense, purposeful slant on the desert-rock sound, creating an atmosphere symbolic of their lives and the journeys made.

Formed in 2001 and hailing from Kidal, Mali, Terakaft are a genuine Tuareg desert rock band sculpted by the desert, weathered, dusty and relentless. Through pulsating guitars rhythms and powerful, mournful vocals, Terakaft – 'Caravan' in their mother tongue – tell tales of a nomadic people, of families displaced, of violence, loss, sadness and defiance. And they do so in a way that carries within it the spirit of victory, even while singing of defeat.

A unity in sound formed by the three vocal harmonies, blue in nature, yet effortlessly representative of peace, beauty and happiness accompanies wild riffs and searing eastern-tinged melodies. This is the Terakaft sound. This is not to be missed.
