Eliza Carthy leads this concert celebrating 80 years of Topic Records, the oldest independent record label in the world and the home of British folk music.
Topic Records has always been an uncompromising and vital force in the UK music, almost single-handedly championing the vibrant British folk scene, reflecting their fervent belief in grassroots traditional music. Tonight’s concert captures that fiercely independent spirit with artists from across the label’s history, including Martin Carthy, Lisa Knapp, Sam Lee, Alasdair Roberts and Olivia Chaney plus further special guest artists to be announced.
A number of these artists appear on Vision & Revision: The first 80 years of Topic Records, a double album released in May. The record sees a host of musicians from the UK folk scene covering a song of their choice from Topic’s extraordinary back catalogue.
