We keep on discovering the DJs who will let you dance the Soul City nights away, the Jazz Cafe‘s refreshed Saturday club night.

This time is the turn of Zakia Sewell, a London-based DJ and producer who was also part of the Honest Jon’s family until a few months ago. Today, Zakia cutares a weekly slot on NTS radio called Questing and keep on cultivating her passion for Afro-American sounds, from jazz to soul via funk with spiritual and psychedelic colours.

Zakia has picked for us a few tracks that have inspired her to fasten her life to music.

Here’s a selection of afro-centric sounds, joining the dots from Brazilian samba, to black British soul, Cape Verdean synths and beyond…
