This Corona stuff really sucks ey! Since we might all be bound by borders for a while, we’d like to come together and share some happiness in the shape of a playlist or mix!
In the next days and weeks, check out Safe & Sounds, where we will figuratively introduce you to and put you in touch with music whizzes, featuring their selections, collections and picks from all around the globe.
Be “Safe & Sounds” and wash your hands!
This is not just a playlist of influences, but also of relationships. These are songs that interconnect and connect to my DNA as a musician and artist.
Thiago Nassif is a Brazilian musician, composer and producer based in Rio de Janeiro, whose impactful mélange of pop, jarring no-wave, and edgy Tropicália has slowly been turning heads the world over.
In early July, Thiago published his 4th full-length album (and debut on Gearbox Records), which was co-produced with New York based no wave legend Arto Lindsay. Drawing on Brazilian influences (tropicalia, bossa nova) yet equally inspired by no wave, post punk and peak period Bowie, Mente is an album that filters classic counter cultures through a modern lens. Nassif is inspired by artists such as Tom Zé, Ricardo Villalobos, Alva Noto and James Chance.
