On the Rhythm Passport and Movimientos pages, we will be ringing up the curtain on talented female singer-songwriters and zigzagging across the Brazilian-Venezuelan musical border with traditional, contemporary and far-ranging tunes.
Throughout the event, we will have the pleasure to host four London-based acts showcasing their connection with Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Latin music.
Starting with all-female percussion-led band LET DRUM BEAT, who are reviving, defying and bringing forward the Afro-Brazilian tradition, blending it with West African, Scottish and London vibes.
They’ll be followed by Venezuelan singer/songwriter Luzmira Zerpa(also founder and band leader of Family Atlantica) and her imaginative Afro-Latin repertoire brimming with upbeat songs and stories.
You’ll also dance the evening away with DJ AmarAll, a far-reaching Tropical DJ and producer from Sao Paulo, part of the Baila Portuñol collective…
…and Miguel Colmenares. The founder and director of the Latin American-focussed cultural project colectivo futuro (next to co-founder of Olindo Records) is also an eclectic DJ who has dedicated his heart and needles to spreading Pan-Latin vibes.

We can’t celebrate and encourage a project like Let Drum Beat enough, not simply because they are a full-female band in a man’s world (the music one), but also because, with their Afro-Brazilian-inspired sound and rhythms and positive attitude, they release such warm and heartening vibes that will inevitably end…
