On Saturday the 2nd of July we will be join forces with Tramshed for an afternoon of South Asian music and dance at the bandstand in Greenwich Park.
Take a trip to Indonesia in an afternoon harmonising the islands’ musical tradition with the London soundscape featuring sets by BANdana and Gamelaning.
The BANdana Dangdut Band is an Indonesian community music group based in London. They perform a wide range of Indonesian popular music, known as ‘dangdut’. Dangdut is a very popular genre of music in Indonesia and it has a distinctive drumming style influenced by both Indonesian beats and Indian music. The music is also enriched with a unique, flowing vocal part accompanied by guitars, keyboards, and ketipung (drums)
Gamelaning is a gamelan project performing traditional Javanese pieces, as well as exploring the distinctive sounds and timbres produced by combining gamelan and Western instruments.
Join us at Greenwich Park Bandstand from 2:00pm for a free Bollywood Dance workshop before the concert.
