Event Preview: Plugged presents Parasang, Orchestra of Samples, Moormur @ Walthamstow Trades Hall (London; Thursday 5th May 2022)
The last few years have seen the North East London borough of Walthamstow become a breeding ground for exciting ideas, cultural projects and artistic adventures.
One of the most intrepid acts jazzing up the local scene is undoubtedly Addictive TV, an ingenious audio-visual combo of “remixers and electronic artists” who, since their debut, has constantly employed London and their neighbourhood as driving and inspiring forces.
This “local connection” will go on stage once again on Thursday 5th May, when Addictive TV will present Plugged, their latest far-reaching initiative featuring forward-looking, inventive and, it goes without saying, talented musicians showcasing a wide-range of styles from electronica to global beats, alt-jazz, dub, experimental and hip-hop.
At the Walthamstow Trades Hall, Plugged will indeed set the scene for a collaborative event that will feature the brilliant unpredictability of Parasang, an open-ended and improvised music dialogue led by Iranian electro-wizard Pouya Ehsaei and supported by Hampshire-born trumpet player and composer Laura Jurd, and Ghanaian funky master percussionist Afla Sackey. Then, it will be the turn of London electro-jazz producer, beatmaker and drummer Moormur and finally, Addictive TV’s Orchestra of Sample, theirwide-ranging collection of samples from live sessions recorded all around the world. For the occasion, it will be enriched by the participation of singer and multi-instrumentalist of Welsh origins Plumm, Polish EWI player František Holčík and London-based percussionist Michael ‘Fordey’ Forde. And to top it all off is the A/V virtuosity of 2-Digit Visuals & Mouseonthetelly.
It’s going to be a music night like no other, in which artistry and imagination will go hand in hand for the sake of a vibrant local community and beyond…
