Preview: Amaraterra @ Rich Mix (London, 13th June 2016)

amaraterra

Amaraterra are a collective of musicians and dancers who hail from Southern Italy but now reside in London, making them the first pizzica ensemble to be based in the British capital.

Pizzica is the music and dance style at the heart of the folk tradition of Salento, the “heel” of Italy: A frenetic tambourine rhythm that is frantically danced to. Legend has it that this dance has the power to heal the bite of the poisonous tarantula spider.

On 13th June, after the three football matches of the European championship, you will be able to either celebrate the victory of your favourite team or forget the defeat by trying out your pizzica moves at Rich Mix, the renowned venue in Shoreditch which hosts some of finest world music acts.
