Since 1990, Bagri Foundation has constantly been a reference for Asian culture enthusiasts, supporting and presenting the London audience with artists and works from the Near to the Far East.

You can have a sneak peek at their credo, joining them at Cafe OTO this November for a music series exposing some of the most forward-looking and exploratory aspects of the Asian continent’s (and its diaspora’s) contemporary music.

At the Cutting Edge: Experimental Sounds of Asia will make its debut on Thursday 7th November with a far-out triple bill, showcasing Filipina-American composer, percussionist, and sound artist Susie Ibarra, Indo-Arabian Sunn Trio and their improvised jazz and desert-rock set, and Japanese one-man band Ichi.

Less than a week later, on Wednesday 13th November, Islandman, Nabihah Iqbal and DJ Kobayashi will display three different ways to make dance music, holding in high regard both Middle and Near Eastern traditions.

The three-event series will close its curtains on Thursday 14th November with a night entirely dedicated to sounds coming from the most easterly part of Asia. Phew and O Yama O are two intriguing names enhancing the Japanese music scene with their unconventional sound, between ambient and folktronica. While haihm is a musician, producer and DJ, and an integral part of the new wave of female Korean electronic musicians, who will make her UK debut supported by London-based visual artist Bongsu Park.

No better way to dig into and appreciate angles of the Asian underground scenes than by attending At the Cutting Edge!
