Preview: Baloji @ Rich Mix (London; Tuesday 14th January 2020)

The 2020 edition of the London Short Film Festival will undoubtedly have its main star in Baloji. On the 18th of January, the Congolese musician and filmmaker will bring to London some of his short movies, but as Rhythm Passport, we are more interested in what is going to happen four days earlier at Rich Mix.

On Tuesday 14th, the “man of science” (that’s the meaning of Baloji in the Swahili language) will visit the Shoreditch venue accompanied by L’Orchestre de la Katuba to perform his Congo-meets-the-world sound.

In his solo career, started more than ten years ago, Baloji has constantly exposed himself and his life experiences, setting them to music and verses. He divided his artistry between the singer/songwriter, MC, music researcher and experimenter roles building up his own musical identity shaped on his Central African roots, Belgian residency and all-embracing music listening.

Don’t miss the opportunity to meet, listen and dance to a good-and-proper protagonist of African music.
