Preview: Bombino @ The Forge (London, 8th and 9th June 2016)
London Tribes is bringing to London Tuareg guitarist Bombino, presenting to the public his new album Azel.
A member of the Tuareg Ifoghas clan, Bombino (stage name of Omara Moctar) came to prominence in 2011, thanks to his album Agadez, that was acclaimed worldwide for it represented desert-rock at its finest. After another successful work released in 2013 (Nomad), Bombino is now back but in a new shape: for the first time he is using Western vocal harmonies in recorded Tuareg music (an historical first) and blending Tuareg rock with reggae, creating what he calls “Tuareggae”.
In this show, we travel from Africa’s kora, desert blues from the Sahara desert, the beautiful strings from Cape Verde Islands, through jazz from gipsy influence and finish with a dub in a world music perspective. Music is the glue that connects humanity as ONE! (Aired on August 11 on…
