Världens Band are indeed something more than an ensemble, they are, as they love to define themselves, “fourteen musicians, seven countries, three continents, one band”.

Even if the project is based in Stockholm and was launched thanks to the spirit of initiative of the Swedish folk band Kolonien in 2012, Världens Band members express a dozen music traditions and roots.

Next to Scandinavian polkas, you can also find traces of Scottish reels, Colombian rhythms, Mediterranean atmospheres, Indian classical compositions, Balkan melodies; all played by Galician pipe, Senegalese kora and intoned in Northern African too…

The result is something so unique that it’s easier to listen to it than describe with words.
