Preview: Jazz:Re:Found 2019 (Cella Monte, Italy; Thursday 20th to Sunday 23rd June 2019)
An ever-evolving festival, just like jazz and its conjunctions. That’s why we love Jazz:Re:Found, the musical happening taking place in the North-Italian region of Piedmont, which has reached its ninth chapter and changed its shape once again.
The 2019 edition will indeed go on stage in mid-June over three days and nights, in the scenic area of Monferrat, 40 miles east of Turin. Just like the hills surrounding the small town of Cella Monte, the new address of the festival, Jazz:Re:Found will be a smooth and charming show, presenting some of the most exciting names in the alternative-jazz and jazz-fusion scenes, next to electronica, funk, soul and hip-hop ones.
If the Italian musical contingent will inevitably play the lion’s share, counting on quality names like hip-hop-jazz funky combo DJGruff & GianlucaPetrella, Neapolitan legendary drummer TulliodePiscopo, dancefloor prophet DJ Ralf and Roman hip-hop outfit ColleDerFomento, there will also be a significant “delegation” of London jazzcats, including some of the most up-and-coming names like Kokoroko and Yussef Dayes, and the guiding light of the scene, Gilles Peterson.
But, it’s not over, because next to the “Italo-British connection”, you will also have plenty of other sounds brought to you by the talent of Ibaaku and his unpredictable and dancy Afro-electro, by the refined taste of Belgian DJ and producer LeftO, and by the overwhelming techno-brass explosion of German Meute.
In other words, your (un)usual Jazz:Re:Found! More exciting and summery than ever; jazzy as always.
