Preview: Jorge Drexler + Dom La Nena @ Barbican (London, 2nd February 2016)
February will début bringing some South American colours and rhythms to London. On the 2nd, Barbican will host two artists who display two distant but passionate ways to be a Latin American musician, composer and singer.
Jorge Drexler (who we have enjoyed in London less than one year ago) and Dom La Nena(who we’ve recently had the chance to interview), despite their different origins, stories and careers are true symbols of their Continent. They have developed two distinctive ways to portray their not dissimilar musical roots, which are well grounded in the Brazilian and Latin tradition.
Thanks to the musicians’ talent, the Barbican audience will experience an evening heartened by the electro-bossa tunes played by Uruguayan Jorge Drexler (for the first time in the U.K. supported by his full band) and songwriting delicacies of Brazilian expat Dom La Nena. Together, they will cover the 500 miles between Montevideo and Puerto Alegre in around two hours and with no motion sickness.
