Preview: LoLa MC – London Latin Music Conference 2020 (Online; Friday 11th September 2020)

If you are familiar with La Linea Festival, you already know about the dedication and expertise of its organisers. Each year, London was indeed overwhelmed and amazed by some of the most gifted acts of the Latin American music scene.

Sadly, as was easily predictable due to the live music events restrictions, the 2020 edition of the festival won’t happen, and La Linea will be back in April 2021.

Still, the music lovers at Como No! have thought about bringing back the successful one-day conference which enriched, for the first time, La Linea’s calendar last year.

On Friday, even if you are not in London or thereabouts, you can anyhow “meet” LoLa MC (London Latin Music Conference), attend its panels, discussions and workshops. What’s more, you can also experience its rich offer of live music performances. The conference will indeed move online and it will be entirely free if you register in advance HERE.

Starting at 11AM (UK Time) with some compelling discussions about the future of Latin American music in a post-Covid UK, women in Latin music and the relationship between Latin music and the mainstream, the event will host brilliant and well-known panellists like Gilles Peterson and Amy Lamé.

But it’s possibly the evening programme that will make your mouth water. From 8PM, LOLA MC will present nine sets of talented and up-and-coming UK-based acts who will showcase their bond with Latin music.

On the “virtual” Rich Mix stage will appear… Brazilian choro torchbearer Alvorada, Latin contemporary classical and traditional 9-piece band Classico Latino, Afro-Colombian tradition experimenter Esteban Card, Dominican urban MC Faqundo Gonzalez, Pan-Latin psicodelicos Imperio Bamba, Colombian reggaeton artists Jayffo and Valenciz, jazz pianist and composer Jonny Liebeck and Cuban timbaton and dancehall combo Phillips Man & Lolo MC.

Have a thoroughly Latin American music day on Friday courtesy of Como No, La Linea Festival and their most recent offshoot, LoLa MC.
