Preview: Namvula ‘Quiet Revolutions’ Album Launch @ Rich Mix (London; Friday 20th April 2018)
We’ve grown fonder and fonder of Namvula’s second album Quiet Revolutions. Since its first wails, represented by the Indiegogo campaign (launched exactly one year ago) which allowed its publication, to its official release dated back to November, we followed the journey of the latest work of the Scottish/Zambian singer-songwriter almost step-by-step. So it goes without saying that we are more than looking forward to closing the circle by enjoying a live rendition of Quiet Revolutionsat Rich Mix on the 20th of April.
After almost a year away from the stage (motherhood is a pretty busy business), Namvula is back with her music which draws inspiration from her own life experiences and different residencies around the world. Quiet Revolutions has enriched her repertoire with brand new stories and images, which has also allowed her to grow artistically and develop her sound.
Women are still the main characters inspiring her compositions, and folk mixed with pan-African sounds accent the album, but there’s a completely new musical perspective melding them together. So join us at Rich Mix in a few days’ time and discover the Quiet Revolutions that have turned, whirled, and twisted Namvula’s life and her music.
Rhythm Passport holders…we are in for another journey in sound! For the next two hours, Rhythm Passport Presents will let you travel the world music-world far and wide. We are indeed going to set off from the RTM.FM studio and together we will discover some of the most exciting new releases…

We had the pleasure of meeting her a few weeks ago to have a chat about all the events that occurred…
The cultural heritage that Quiet Revolutions brings to our ears is incredible, to put it mildly. Since her debut album Shiwezwa, released in 2014, Namvula has blazed a trail both at home and abroad with her impressive array of music fusion, from African styles to Scottish folk. She is a singer-songwriter,…
When it comes to supporting artists that we care about and have followed the career step-by-step, you don’t need to ask us twice. That’s why we welcome and are more than happy to share with you the call of one of our favourite “local” singer-songwriters. We started following Zambian-Scottish musician Namvula three…
On April 6th, I ventured out to Rotherhithe in the South-Eastern corner of London to meet Namvula, a half-Zambian, half-Scottish musician whose 2014 debut album Shiwezwa received a wave of enthusiastic praise from the press. We meet as she waits to play an intimate set at a gig organised by…
To demonstrate how much Namvula is absorbed in her music I shall recount an incident that occurred during her album launch at the Old Queens Head in London. On stage she was entranced, moving to the relentless rhythm and the melody of her songAfrica, when suddenly a cloud of smoke…
