Preview: Onipa + Owiny Sigoma Sound System + The Busy Twist (DJ-set) @ Jazz Cafe (London; Friday 28th September 2018)
An evening of afro-cyclical riffs, be it on the characteristic electric guitar, or electrified xylophones, this evening of afro-collaborative acts is sure to be an unmissable event.
Onipa is another collaboration between Ghanaian K.O.G. (K.O.G. & the Zongo Brigade) and London’s Tom Excell (Nubiyan Twist), this time bringing ‘deep grooves and fierce energy’ in their tracks, which are certainly relentlessly upbeat, catchy and danceable.
Owiny Sigoma, who sold out the Jazz Cafe last year, bring the Nairobi musical culture to London’s collaborative music scene. Starting as a fusion project in 2009, the band have since started a sound system, playing deep afro-electro rave beats.
Finally, The Busy Twist have been in high demand on the Afro-Latin party game since bursting onto the scene with their bridge of Ghanaian-Colombian and UK electronic music.
Each band is deeply rooted in the music they’re mixing, having all travelled to the lands of their collaborations. This is set to be a top-notch evening for Afro-dance music lover.
