Preview: The Comet Is Coming @ O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (London; Thursday 5th December 2019)
A jazz trio that instigates raves drenched with frenzied dancing and euphoria; The Comet Is Coming is a jazz electronica band that feels like it is pushing boundaries and creating music that belongs in a large crowd. Their music will lift you up, as the group like to lead you on a spiritual trip into their own universe of fresh sounds, depth and dynamism.
The band was brought to wider attention in 2016, when nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings is well known on the London scene and adds his powerful riffs into the mix. He was the last to join the cosmic trio after watching keyboardist Dan Leavers and drummer Max Hallett spark adrenaline with their echo and reverb-heavy hard-hitting tunes.
Following their performance at recent summer festivals, this is bound to be a blow-out gig. With them taking charge of the energy, you’ll certainly become a lover of the night.
