The 14th London African Music Festival will return to the city from Friday 16th to Saturday 24th September 2016, hosting twelve acts over nine days in six renowned venues across the capital and including performances from Sekouba Bambino, Aziza Brahim and Dele Sosimi among many others.
This year’s offering looks set to build on the festival’s prior success and unerring consistency in quality.
Stand-out bookings include the renowned Guinea-born singer Sekouba Bambino, previously of the legendary Bembeya Jazz, who will be gracing the stage at Kings Place along with his seven-piece band. Then, later in the week, percussionist and singer Aziza Brahim will bring her captivating new album Abbar el Hamada to the atmospheric grandeur of Union Chapel, a venue that will play host to the virtuosic kora (Seckou Keita), guitar (Antonio Forcione) and percussion (Adriano Adewale) collection AKA Trio the following evening.
Other acts include afrobeat star Dele Sosimi, a unique UK performance from Sally Nyolo and Djeli Moussa Diawara, a UK premier from the African Salsa Orchestra, and sets from Namvula, Lokito Ya Congo, Ezza, Femi Temowo, the Brice Wassy Quartet and Abdul Raheem. Tickets can be bought from each venue separately, and more information is provided by the producers, Joyful Noise.
